Battery Boy was attempting to photograph some boats in one of the many canals and is very patient when composing a shot, particularly ensuring there are no people causing a distraction in his photographic composition.     ... in this room and still not see all the paintings. It was truly astounding! We were able to explore below the palace and into the prisons. It was quite a sad looking place with tiny cells that looked like caves. We could see out to the bridge of sighs from one of the windows. The bridge was named the Bridge of Sighs, because that is where the families would stand to wave goodbye and cry and "sigh" to their loved ones ,who had been imprisoned.     ... up. It was a great introductory tour, so we are more confident we can get around on our own. There was free time before we went back to the ship, but instead of shopping or having a gelato, we walked up to the vaporetto stop we'll use tomorrow to familiarize ourselves with the area.

    We were back at the ship by 6.30pm. Terry had a nice cup of tea. I had an ice-cold Bud . As a special treat I had pavlova for dessert, yippee, passionfruit.

    ... our way towards San Marco Square. We window shopped and even bought a few things at this one glass shop. Venice was like a maze it took us ages to find the square, we walked through tiny alley ways and over heaps of bridges and we took lots of photos. After quite a while of walking and trying to find the square we decided that we would try again tomorrow because we were just getting too tired and hungry. ...

    ... church steps, does the video surveillance sign come to our attention. Oops.........

    On our walk back we must say vichnya pomyat to the old boots and provide them with a proper disposal. The old biddies on the balcony come out and shout out in Italian so we move along laughing hysterically. Again this is one of those moments you would have had to witness to appreciate the humour.
