... lasted for about 1 1/2 hours and was interesting and it was good to get away from the main busy streets of Venice.
The walking tour was followed by a gondola ride that was supposed to last 45 minutes but finished in less than 30. This was interesting as you were much closer to the water than in a taxi or vaperetto, When we got out of the Grand Canal into the small side canals it was very quiet. You could also ...

Then there was music and the flag of a lion- Svolo dell Leon- was raised and flew over ...

We walked back to St Mark’s square, had a look into the cathedral and basilica, then we walked around past the Doges Palace where the royal family used to live. Connected to the back of the palace is the bridge of sighs which ...

    Day 18 - Venice

A travel blog entry by paulkalo on Aug 18, 2013

... the Italian immigrants had tried to replicate back home! Dropping us at piazza Roma, we hopped off the bus, unleashed the backpacks, and walked to our destination - Across the other side of the island! Chris was a trooper and powered on through, and we finally arrived to our hotel - the Antica Casa Coppo sweaty and exhausted. It was a nice little hotel with 6 rooms, and a tiny little area for breakfast, and the rooms had 2 balconies for relaxing which would have been great had our ...
