Blind Venetian.

A travel blog entry by roxyhart

... I'd been rather short-sighted, as instead of just 2 simple cops, there was actually an entire bridge full of a complete gun and shield-equipped SWAT team. The officer, upon hearing where we needed to go, gave an abrupt laugh and told me 'no.' As in, 'don't go there. Just wait a few hours'. ... go to the loo, so we looked for a restaurant but of course nothing was open that early. We were directed to a WC and it cost €1.50 (nearly $2.00) but that was irrelevant at that stage. With some ...

the increasing use of the waterways by more and more boats, is having a major effect on the stability of the buildings. Coupled with this is tidal changes, resulting in those poles being exposed to more and more air, causing rot.
The future for Venice looks bleak.
Today we are off to Milano, we won't be sorry to leave behind the crush of people.
It's a boat trip to the station...should all be very interesting.
