    ... and relax. So on to Avignon. The place we are staying has a five star restaurant so looking forward to trying this out. It is interesting as far as trying to understand what is on the menu - thus has been one of the most difficult thing we have encountered. All menus are embellished so bifteck which means steak has about five different descriptions. Oh we'll it does make us ask questions inFrench which sparks a conversation and sometimes very enjoyable with laughs at the end.... A demain, ...

    Monday Sept 9 th Day Trip Le Baux - to see Carrieres de Lumieres and The Chateau des Baux-de-Provence Today it was a later start , we drove 80 km to Le Beaux to see an exhibition recommended by Ellenor ( our Canadian friend ) . It was held in an underground quarry with art images by Gustavo Klimt and the artists he inspired projected onto the quarry walls ...

    ... that differed from yesterday. Next was Gordes ,a hill perched village with stone houses ,a castle and a 12th century abbey. We then drove to Roussillon ,a village famous for its ochre quarry , we stopped here for a beer and a soft drink as it's was bloody hot . My new shoes I bought from Apt were a success with preventative band aids in place my feet survived the day. Garry's confidence in driving increased and I just held on tighter ...

    Another great day in Southern France! We started the morning off with another wine tasting at Chateau Henri Bonnaud Winery . . . the best tasting yet! All three wines were excellent! We purchased a red, that we will keep for a year or two. Got a bi=usiness card and I will write to the LCBO and recommend they import from this winery. We then returned to the hotel and relaxed at the pool for a couple of hours, having a very expensive lunch ...

    ... nice, self proclaimed "business man" and world traveller. His side kick was the "French Chase Williamson" (see photo) and were both very helpful. For dinner we stumbled into an Italian restaurant (go figure) filled with many locals. Included in this group was an elderly couple who engaged us in conversation which lasted the full duration of our meal.
