Caught a no. 7 bus up to an old Etruscan village called Fiesole in the hills about 20 minutes out of Florence.
Stunning views from walking up small narrow streets and looking down on Florence.

We visited an Etruscan and roman archaeological site dating back to ...

... and a long taxi queue. As it turned out we are only a very short distance from the train station and in a great location. Our host Lorenzo met us and showed us the workings of the apartment, which is fab - very spacious two bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, bathroom, vestibule decorated in traditional style. i have never seen such a locking mechanism on the front door. there is a steel rod that bolts into floor and ceiling. After 7pm we could get in to the Uffizi Gallery Museum for free. We managed to ...

    Beautiful Florence

Florence is such a beautiful place filled with Art, Museums, beautiful old churches and Lovely squares. Streets of cobble stone and not much room for cars to drive by.

Lots of leather stores and little shops, fabulous restaurants severing up authentic food. The lasagna I ate was to die for and it melted in your mouth.

I would want to back to Florence to visit again.

... reached the top it was a little village, had a walk around and again had amazing views- its a shame it was a cloudy day. Had some lunch in a pizzeria then got the bus back. Was heavily raining now so decided to go back to the hotel, get another umbrella and make sure we were properly set for the rain! Queued for 10 minutes to get into the duomo which I'm glad we did. Unfortunately ...
