A final thought. As my stay with Fernando y Yvonne approached, I wondered how it would compare to living with Rebeca. I knew from the other students in my program that I had been assigned to a great family in Guanajuato--I have more food that I really want (and asking Rebeca to give me less really doesn't do much) and it's delicious and made completely from scratch. The school has been around for 80 years and the students have multiple generations of family members that have attended the school. There are about 1400 students at the school but they ...

Making the most of Manuel having to work over the Christmas period I spent Monday in Cuernavaca visiting Cristina. Cristina is the sister of another Mexican guy I know, Eric, who is studying his PHD at Newcastle Uni. I met Cristina a couple of times when she was visiting Eric in the UK and she'd already offered for me to visit her during my stay in Mexico. Cuernavaca is just an hour south of Mexico City, though it feels a world apart with ...
