    ... camps liberated by the Allies.

    Our next stop was much more pleasant.

    We were given ample free time to explore a lovely pedestrian mall in a medieval section of Gdansk, lined with buildings that have been fully restored.

    There were shops and restaurants; even a Hard Rock Café which looked completely out of place in a building that probably dated back to the 18th century.

    We left Warsaw in the nick of time as there was a power cut so no water or light on the top floor!

    Somehow we got in a bit of a mess trying to leave as it was very busy and Serena got in a bit of a flap trying to avoid roadworks. We did have fun trying to work it all out and saw things we would never have seen had we gone the right way.
