      ... high on a cliff provide astonishing views of the ocean and the mountains...and on fairly famous mountain - Mt Etna! At the moment the peak is snow capped,although it is possible to see a little smoke wafting for the peak!!

      ... for lunch, which is a place that makes food fresh from the surrounding areas. The food was so delicious! Our last hour in Sicily was free time where a group of us set out for a section of beach and sand to dip our feet in the Sicilian Sea! We found it and we loved it! It was the end of a great weekend, which also marked the one month mark left in Rome. It was a bittersweet weekend, but one that had so many bonding experiences and memories!

      Last day had perfect weather. We went to an ancient theater with the casual Volcano as the background scenery. Mt. Etna was huge and beautiful.       This visit makes up for most of the morning and we spend the rest of the day sightseeing in the rain and up and down Via Etnea, the main shopping street that runs straight from Piazza del Duomo up to the foothills below Etna for what it feels a thousand times.

      So we decided to head for the airport early and we sat exhausted waiting to board the plane, dreaming of a sunny Rome.

      ... in theory we were going up the volcano in an organised trip but with the awful weather we are putting up with we have given up that idea. Instead we have visited the Greek theatre of Taormine and have gone to eat to Messina, the city where one of my friends from work lived in for over 30 years working as a tour guide.
