      ... to be walking around and seeing the view from up high. The sun was setting when we rode the funicular back down and we spent some lazy time wandering around the waterfront area near our hotel.

      We did laundry that night at a small four-machine laundromat around the corner and the kids went out for a late snack at a hole-in-the-wall donair shop near the hotel.

      Went walking with D from MonzaBabel (thanks for organising that D) et al today to the Lake Como region. We joined another 'Meetup' group, the website I used to join a language exchange here in Monza.

      ... right path, this ended at some rocks that had ropes to help you to climb up them, Logan tried it out but didn't quite make the first ledge, he should have used the ropes!       ... the weather really has turned. Not sure how long this change will last, but at least this may give us an opportunity tomorrow morning to hike up to Mottarone. Hope so!

      Across the lake (perhaps at Santa Caterina) we witnessed a fireworks display. The 'boom' resonating around the lake was heard 5 or so seconds after you actually saw the fireworks.
