... But aside from taking stick on behalf of a team he doesn't support, it was a good couple of days, and the weather was superb, with clear blue skies and still in the late twenties. Lovely.

Anyway, after we'd been out for a meal one evening with some friends, and said the rest of our goodbyes over the last couple of days, we finally left Lucca this morning, following the Autostrada across to Viareggio. Then along the coast with sea on one side and the Alpi ...

Finalmente! At the lounge. Caught 12.20 bus out to Malpensa. Took 10 minutes to walk to the Metro, catch the train and get on the express bus. So far so good. ... greeted by a reasonably nice German Lady who let is in to the house, which was full of antiques, but nothing much seemed to work. We had to toast bread in the oven, boil the kettle on the hotplate, and she had a very creepy looking son who wore his shorts way too high, and we were all scared that he was an axe-murderer. As they live on the property too it was all a bit awkward to start with but we are getting used to it slowly.
Once again our timing was perfect ...

... impression was rather different. The man in charge was gruff and grumpy. He had contacted a nearby garage, but he had not made a booking, and instead simply gave us an address, rather unhelpfully pointing out that the garage in question was not keen to take on the work. He was unsympathetic and seemed unwilling to engage; not at all like the reviews on TripAdvisor that suggest a reservoir of obliging good cheer. Nonetheless, we nervously drove down the hill to find ...
