... had to change trains it was snowing really hard but our train to Chur (my favourite station name so far) was early so we only had to wait for a few minutes. When we got to Chur for lunch to meet with Michela, Gianluca and baby Rosa. I realised that as this part of Switzerland is German speaking, so we had to change back to speaking German which is weird as this was the first language of our trip. For lunch Michela made pasta with ham and peas. We then went out for a ...

Sasha: It started snowing around 7 this morning...much to our relief. Low cloud and strong winds meant that Katja and I stayed in and baked a cake whilst the boys hit the slope...the one that was open. But they were back soon after as the conditions were not great.

After lunch Katja had to go to work whilst the three of us took Nahla for a walk in the snow - she loves the snow!

Tomorrow promises sunshine...we'll be on the mountain...

Judging by its effect it must have been at least 50-50 gin-tonic, though it may just have been how shattered I was from 5 passes in 4 days. Either way, I needed an earl grey tea to level me out before cooking an enormous tuna pasta. The ...

Day 279 1 hr, 3 kms Around a bend and up a ridge where there's a cool medieval structure with its step like triangular facade. Nice spot to take a break. And then something happens that sort of encapsules everything that is wonderful about this part of the world. I'm walking down the street, looking a bit scruffy by my own standards--and looking downright hobo-esque, I'm sure, by Liechtenstein standards, with my backpack and guitar... A woman and her ...

      1714. Industry in Liechtenstein

Day 279 2 hrs, 4 kms There are 5 more towns to go, that's a lot to squeeze in in a couple of hours, but I'm going to give it a try. The first is Essen, where I pass a fairly large industrial area. Here I'm reminded that Liechtenstein actually has a very diverse economy--it's not just about banking. In fact, this country has one of the ...
