    Just when we thought Venice was the most beautiful place we would visit in Italy, Varenna may have beaten it into second place. Neither of us can get our heads round the fact that we are actually seeing what's around us. The apartment is amazing and the views from the balcony alone are worth the trip. Claire has also befriended a blind cat so we keep having to think of excuses to go and see the lady so Claire can rub the cat.

    ... fall asleep at the table, me included. So we started to make a move just after 11.30pm, then we found out we had to wait for the bus. We had a least another 30min plus wait for the bus. People were sitting on the curb, falling asleep, it wasn't a pretty site. Finally the bus arrived, and we were on our way to the hotel. By the time we got to bed it was nearly 1am.     Took the Bernina Express train from Samedan, Switzerland to Tirano, Italy. Was interesting to go from mountain peaks to Palm trees during the 2 hour train ride.     ... our lunch stop. Lugano is a beautiful town, also on the lake. The difference is atmosphere between Lucano and Lugano is very distinct. Lugano has beautiful buildings, interesting laneways and has a very welcoming atmosphere. I wander around with a couple from the tour, Kerrie and Robert.
