So instead I drove directly to Ptuj on the highway. I passed through Slovenia in early 2006 on my Dragoman Silk Road tour and have noticed some changes in the roads since. While a decade ago we had expressway from the Austrian border to Ljubljana, it ended at the edge ...

Tito, one of the great leaders in WW2 in Yugoslavia as he organised resistance against Hitler, became leader in 1945 after the war. He worked with Winston Churchill in his fight against Hitler. The USA ploughed a huge amount of money to help this area be redeveloped after the war. Tito was a dictator but the people loved him overall as he was not a typical dictator ...

Day 35 Cividale and Slovenia This morning we have until after lunch to see what Cividale has to offer. Paul remembers from when he was here in 2009 some of the sights that impressed him most, so he has a rough itinerary sorted. We have breakfast in the Bad and Breakfast, then set out for the morning. Cividale is not very big, so it is not difficult to walk around. First we go to the tourist office and get a map, they also give us the key for the Grotto. This is a cave set into ...
