    ... there in Maribor, doesn't help we forgot our guide book either. The most entertaining bit was arriving in Ljubljana Airport and picking up the hire car for my first driving on the right hand side of the road experience (have previously driven in NZ but they are the same as side as the UK).

    ... along the Soca Valley - this is so clear - mental note to return next year and camp

    We pay our 5 Eur and set off, talk about butterflies, hope we do not meet anything coming the other way and pray we get the right exit at the end of the tunnel otherwise it will not take long to get to the bottom

    ... we found the cafe and Karen got her burger, which she enjoyed. I did not have one - I couldn't bring myself to eat horsemeat.
    After that we had to but supplies for the next day's 10hour train journey to Budapest, and then meet the rest of the group for a group dinner, at a nice restaurant which Louise has eaten at before.

    ... Lorraine had a wonderful time at the small but beautiful gallery of naive art.

    From Zagreb we made the long bus haul to Dubrovnik. While a mecca for tourists it is, however, quite magical. We walked the narrow alleyways, we cruised around it and Clare and Lorraine conquered the city wall. Not a bad effort for a woman in her eighties, Clare not Lorraine. We now call her 'Clare of the Wall'.

    ... that overlook the river. The culmination of the morning was that we sat in San Marco cafe which has operated continuously since 1789 in this piazza. We both have a hot chocolate and these are to die for. You have to experience the Italian version of hot chocolate; it's like molten chocolate, amazingly thick, rich and absolutely delicious. When you come to Italy you have to have one of these....amazing! W took photos but they really don't do justice to the drink. ...
