    ... du Mente, the latter being a killer in the direct sun. Dave decided to take his time on this leaving Paul, Terry and I to ascend at faster pace. One must understand that the pace is really defined partly by getting into your zone and partly by needing to go fast enough that you don’t fall off your bike. I exaggerate - but only a little!

    We had a surprisingly good dinner last night considering the isolated position of the gite. Most of it (except the chicken) came from their own vegetable and flower garden. The plate of salad had about 5 different flowers mixed with the vegetables, and they were all edible. This was followed by a chicken casserole which was delicious, and the desert was artfully folded pancakes with coconut icecream in the centre.     This day will go into history as "the day of the mud"... We started off at 0730 Hrs with a short transfer to the hamlet of Bouche.
