... here via Ryanair - an interesting experience with limited luggage allowance and hand luggage and pay for everything extra - and stag weekend lads starting the partying on board - we were made welcome by Vivienne and John. The reason we are here is that they said they were coming over from Nova Scotia for month and it might be fun if we could join them. So we have! ...
... rest of the evening was simply visiting with everyone and enjoying our last night in our hostel! We woke up this morning and sat around the breakfast table, packed up, and then got a ride back to the train station where we caught our train! We are now traveling north and heading towards Lisbon, which is the capital city of Portugal! We are looking forward to our time there, and afterwards we will be heading to Porto! We were kind of bummed ...
... Pitch Perfect on a projector in the living room. It was a perfect way to end the day. The next day we decided to do the other half of the beaches and we went a different way so they would meet in the middle! We had to climb along the edge of the cliffs, go down spiral stairs and my goodness not look down. It was so freaky but so exhilarating. It's such untouched beauty that I don't see enough of. Our hostel was so great and was like a house remodeled into a hostel. The ...
... day yesterday! We took a bus to Quarteira, the area where we were bike riding a few days ago. (this is the correct spelling for Quarteira, please disregard previous mis-spellings) This was a market day, and we bought some cheese, figs, an onion, almond cookies, more fruit, etc. We then hit the shops. I sipped a coffee in the sun and read while Dawn successfully stalked down some shoes and a scarff. Then came the big plan of the day. The bus ride East to ...
... Then called it an early night. This morning 7 us us met in the lobby, then hiked to the local Gypsy market, which is held every second Tuesday. What a zoo! After buying some figs and underwear, we gave our women some cash and us men went to the outdoor cafe for espresso and churros. A few hours later, 10 of us now, we hoofed it to the firehall for lunch. I had blue shark and boiled potatoes (see photo) and a lovely baked apple for dessert. Carafs of white and red wine ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Vilabranca Apartments Lagos
Great place lovely spacious apartment
Myself and family(husband, 2 children 12 and 8 yrs) stayed here last year in june and we could not fault it. The apartment was excellent spacious and clean. The recent new pool was freezing though, the older pool was great to swim in.Staff was pleasant and friendly especially in reception.
We found the onsite restarant expensive, walk into town for a meal there is lots to choose from.
The supermarket was a few minutes walk across the road and had a great selection of all you needed.Lagos was a lovely place and we would and will go back. This year we are off to portugal again but trying a different place i hope its as good as vilabranca but i'm sure it won't be . I'll let you know !!!!!! A great hoilday we didn't want to leave and the weather was HOT too.
Couldn't have been better!
We found out about Vilabranca through TripAdvisor. We needed a room for 3 nights a couple of weeks ago and found out that there was a special on one-bedroom apartments for 80 Euros a night. We booked our apartment the night before arriving. We were in complete awe when we arrived - the entire complex as well as the apartment were pristine. Service was superb and we were extremely pleased with our apartment (despite the lingering cigarette smell). We were also very glad to have our own kitchen and have two meals a day there. We were within walking distance of the grocery stores, city centre and many beaches were very close by. We will definitely be going back!
I recently spent two weeks with my husband at the Vilabranca, which was everything we thought it would be, according to previous reviews. The apartment was spacious, clean and very well equipped. Towels and bedding were changed frequently, and when we reported the breakage of a glass to reception, there was no problem. The swimming pools were lovely and clean, and there were plenty of sun-beds for everyone.
All the staff, without exception, were pleasant and helpful, particularly those on reception. The food at the restaurant was very good, comparable with other restaurants. We will definitely be back.
We booked to stay here last minute after checking on Trip Advisor.
We were delighted with our choice. The only downside being that we were only staying for 3 nights.
The apartments are spacious and contain everything that you require.
Beautiful gardens,pools,playground and tennis courts.
The staff went out of there way to be helpful.
Would not hesitate to return.
We holidayed here in summer 2003 and had a really great holiday. Our apartment was spotless when we arrived and it was kept that way throughout our stay.
We've stayed in many apartments....
......but this is the best.
Friendly, not expensive, superbly equipped apartment, pool and surrounds brilliant and the kids loved it.
Over the last fifteen years our family has holidayed in all the Mediterranean countries from Spain to Turkey and visited many of the islands too. We had been put off visiting the Algarve by reports of an area both full of time-share touts and but also full of golf courses. This summer we tried the area.
Myself and a 8 other gentlemen went to Portugal and stayed at the Vilabranca and what an enjoyable 2 weeks we had. We arrived in Portugal with 1 hour to spare to get from the airport to the apartments to see England v's France and after a mad dash we got their just as the national athems started. As we all walked in, instead of the expected look of horror of 9 blokes walking in dressed in our England tops we were greeted with warm welcome and before our dainty bums had even touched a seat the waiter, now reffered to as "Boss Man", was running around handing out beers, what a welcome. After the dissapointment of the result we then decided to get our luggage and check in to our rooms and what rooms they were, normally an apartment is just wide enough to swing a cat but these were actual apartments with seperate kitchen, 2 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (1 was en-suite) and lounge leading onto a balcony. The apartments were spotless beautifully decorated. The only complaint I could make is that the T.V. they gave you had dodgy reception on the British channels while the German ones were great, and seriously that is all I can fault it with and as you can tell I'm being very picky here.
I stayed here with my mother and sister last September. (2003) It really was the best holiday I have ever been on. The staff were vey friendly and the apartments were cleaned every day. The apartments were really big aswell which is something you would not expect for such a reasonable price. It had lounge chairs on the patio and the sitting room doors opened onto it along with the kitchen door. IT was very quiet when we went over so only a handful of people would use the pool in the mornings and afternoon. We ate out every day and the best food that we ate was in the hotel restaurant. It was really fabulous. The only thing that I would stress is that you do not use the phone in the hotel reception. IT COSTS AN ABSOLUTE FORTUNE.Other than that it was top class.
Excellent accomodation and location.
Reception Staff excellent, friendly, helpful and maid service good.
Fantastic and will come back.
