... 1/2 weeks later, we were still there! It was sooo hard to leave Itacare, and I think it will always have a fondness in my heart. I'll be back one day for sure. But all great things have to come to an end...and the next stop was Chapada Dimentina.








P.S. I totally forgot...Itacare is where I bought my first Brazilian bikini!!!! Actually not that ...

Laid back life

Caraiva is a laid back old hippie town, set at the end of a peninsular. We had 2 ways to get here, the long road or the short one (impassable in wet weather).

Obviously we took the short road. Basically it's a forestry road; mud, steep hills and few signs. All good fun but a few of the wooden bridges were a bit off putting, so we walked over them.

The peninsular is separated from the mainland by a thin strip ...

Not a lot to say about the town, its another Brazilian beach town.

A few of us went out for a beer in town and ended up down a little pedestrian street. We thought there were 3 restaurants/bars but it turned out that it was all one place. A family run joint with Papa sitting on the other side of the street directing his daughters.

It took us a few buses including an overnight one to get to Itacare but we arrived fine and well although a bit tired. We had booked an apartment with kitchen etc and were pleased with it.

The first day we took it easy and just went for a wonder to the four beaches near the town. The beaches were lovely, ...

Then there was the horrible experience for one of the girls that we went out with one night, who ended up getting attacked by a guy outside a bar – she was lucky, as she paid him off pleading for him not to hurt her, and after that he left. But geez, how scary, and this doesn’t seem like an isolated occurrence. So the moral of the story is, all is not what it seems in paradise. I felt a lot more scared here than I ...
