We survived the longest day in history but not without sleeping in the hotel lobby and the grassy shade of a little park. The sun is hot and the shoes need to be comfortable because we are on our feet and moving through the busy streets of Madrid!

Drove to Story City, Iowa today. The weather was not good today, in fact we drove through pour down rain for about 1 1/2 hrs as we passed through Kansas City and northward. The campground was wet from all the rain and not as pretty as it was the last time we stayed here 4 years ago. Smokey hasn't been sleeping well and has been crying during the night. I guess it is too much going on for him. Needless to say, we haven't been sleeping too ...

... did not get even ones picture of our tent in the camp ground. Badlands is a fabulous place for sky watching. There is unobstructed view of the sky and not too much light pollution.
