Birthday by the beach

A travel blog entry by mnex-in-asia

Today is Eli's 10th birthday and he was very lucky to wake up to surf this morning here on Phu Quoc Island. The island has thick tropical vegetation and long white beaches. Our bungalow is nestled in a tropical garden with views of the ocean but like all the beautiful places we have been to here, it feels like it could easily slide back into the …

A la decouverte de Phu Quoc

A travel blog entry by laurebondoux

Our journey to Phu Quoc - Vietnam was a 3 hour bus and 2 hour boat trip (piece of **** for us!!) when we got to the Vietnam border they had to check our visas, we were sat waiting on a bus for 1 hour baking in the heat to find out one of the guys on our journey was not allowed to cross the border he STUPIDLY put a fag out on his passport so the …

Relaxing by the beach

Another 5hrs to get to the island even though it is only 40km from the coast. We had a car ferry that broke half way and started going around in circles before they fixed it (A helpful French guy told us that they are stopping it permanently in the next few weeks) and then the slowest minibus driver ever, I could have overtaken him with a horse and …

Four Lazy Days...

This is a top pick!

Day 151 ; Another early morning and we was on our way to Phu Quoc. Took a taxi from the hotel to the jetty, the boat was like a bus all numbered seats and packed in like sardines, both of us slept for about an hour or so of the two and a half hour journey so it wasn't too bad, got a bit restless at the end of the journey and realised there was a …

Located at a relatively quiet part of long beach about 2-3km from town. Various accom from bungalows, to hostel style away from beach to right on the beach. Nice rooms, fan, mossie net, fridge, wifi, hammock, really friendly staff who can book tours and speak english, decent food at beach side restaurant but a little pricy (I'm a backpacker would be cheap if you are on holiday). Other bars and restaurants around.
