... convenience store overkill. 7-Elevens have become one of my favourite places in Hong Kong. You can get anything from breakfast, pantyhose, phone credit and a cheap drink.  It's not just convenience stores that are everywhere - restaurants are abound too! With one restaurant for every 600 people, Hong Kong surely boasts one of the highest per-capita concentrations of cafes and restaurants in the world. It also makes Hong Kong the worst place to ...

... China. For a quick illustration, our Moishe house friends told us that their very modern, very nice, centrally located 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment which rents for $3500/month (50% subsidized by JDC in return for 10 hours a week of communal work and hosting 2 events a week) would sell for $2 million to real estate speculators. Next we wandered down to the ferries and had a look through the shopping centres that are around that area. Next we went to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch, as Chris wanted to try it. The food was (as always) super good - we shared a BBQ ...

... Peak - very steep tram, very popular, lots of queuing! Took the metro there- again less than 1 for both of us. The views were amazing- iconic Hong Kong. Somehow made a rash decision to purchase hop on, hop off bus tickets but.... Turned out well as the "green tour" took us to the other side of the island to Stanley where the contrast to the high rise buildings is amazing- most beautiful beaches.

Weather pleasant- about 21 degrees but I am very aware of ...

... I was sceptical as to whether this was the right train station. I knew Shenzhen was a big place. We followed the policeman's elusive instructions. Walking through a street of shops, it was noticeably different to Hong Kong, no English signs anywhere, well dressed people lying on the floor apparently asleep, people openly having arguments in the street, beggars with various disfigurements hoping for a bit of spare change. Within five minutes we were ...
