... trail around the island and after instructions to stay on the trail and be back at 2:30 we are set loose. This place amazing.

14,000 pairs of puffin nest here. They nest in burrows on the ground and are quite tame. They have chicks so are bringing in sand eels to feed them. The chicks are underground so we don’t see them but the parents are everywhere.

The Manx Shearwater also nests here in burrows ...

The Pembrokeshire Coast and St. Davids

... and it will be a sea of pink flowers in a week or two. For now just a few plants are starting to give a glimpse of what it will be like. We follow the coast for about 3 miles enjoying the ever changing and spectacular views. We then turn inland circling a tor, wandering through fields of sheep (there are 4 sheep for every person in Wales) and eventually back to the car.

Yes even though it was cold and windy James and Peter had to have another swim. We left Tenby at lunchtime and it was just starting to rain. Lunch was at the random destination of Porthcawl........ ... And the answer to the Caldey Island trip was not today. We woke up to overnight rain and gale force 3 to 4 winds. Had breakfast overlooking South Beach out the window of our B&B and it looked quite windy and cold. Dressed up warmly and headed to the wharf but alas no boats were going anywhere.
