Today was very exciting, we set off early in the car to travel over the border into the Czech Republic. we collected two friends of Elfi and Gottfried inLinz, and it took about 2 hours to drive. The border was very disappointing! No guards, no passport control!
The countryside was lovely, lots of forests and alongside the Moldau river, which is a centre for lots of water sports.

Cesky Krumlov really is one of those fairy tale like places complete with its own castle on a hill, set on a winding river, with steeples and beautiful mountains surrounding the town. I'm sure there are many other similar little towns spread all over the Czech Republic, but I’m also sure there are none quite like Cesky Krumlov. It is absolute tourist central, and being peak season, there are bus loads of tourists crowding the streets. Probably even more so than Bruges, it feels like ...

On our way we were able to look through some small windows down into the bears enclosure form the opposite side. We spotted a bear being fed and poking his snout out through the bars of his undercover area. It seems it was too cold for him to be out and about today. Quite extraordinary though to visit a castle with real bears in its moat. The stairs to the top of the tower were very old ...
