A beautifully furnished and finished hotel with attentive and non-intrusive staff. Great facilities, has the feel of a boutique hotel, within walking distance to the Dubai Mall.

... Auckland. The weather was pretty wild and windy when we arrived. Did not notice bumpy landing much in the large A380 plane though. Got bags ok however was a pretty long queue through customs and declaration. We made it through the green lane though so did not have to have bags further checked. Unfortunately at Melbourne they had checked hand luggage again and Craig realised he had a bottle of sunscreen in backpack ...

... for a delicious lunch of chicken kebabs and all the Arabian salads and breads. We had to take a doggy box away with us because we couldn't eat it all. We wandered around Dubai Heritage Village which is a rebuilt version of original homes and shops from before the time that all the skyscrapers arrived in Dubai but again Friday meant that a lot of it was closed. We will have to revisit! The Creek Park was the venue for getting Oscar ...

... but not the way they teach you how to drive in the dunes in WA. No thought of not carving up the dunes. It was really FUN and was the highlight in Dubai!

The driver dropped us at a tourist compound for the camel ride. There were 3 camels. The lead animal was having a bad day and was quite ****** off. It tried to bite a couple of people but it was muzzled in a beanie. Groups of 6 (2 on each camel) climbed on and was taken on a 30 ...

... We had to board the light rail between terminals. The terminal we were going to was built specifically to handle A380's. It has 25 gates which is lot of people to handle if a few planes came in or were departing at the same time!!!

Departed Dubai - while waiting to re-board the plane we joked about a large set guy who was lining up as well. He was that big and hot from the heat he had to ...
