... an about-face and sleepily shuffled back to his bedroom. We sat in the lounge area near the bar. A young lady came out from a different direction and informed us we could check-in later and breakfast is served from 8:30. She wasn’t on duty yet either and we told her it was no problem. Tôt le matin nous nous sommes dirigés vers le cimetière qui est dans une montagne pour aller célébrer une tradition chinoise qui consiste à visiter les morts de la famille et leur apporter ce dont ils auront besoin pour passer l'hiver: nourriture, vêtements, alcool, cigarettes, fleure, argent et même la presse!

Nous avons participé à la célébration avec la famille de Yin Yin ...

... en retard sur la plubication de ce blog et je ne prends pas de notes pendant les visites!). Quelques fois par année autour de 1500 moines s'y réunissent pour prier tous ensemble. Ça doit être plutot impressionnant si vous voulez mon avis! Nous avons fait un tour dans la cuisine qui sert lors de ces occasions et à voir la grosseur des chaudrons il doit y en avoir des oignons dans cette soupe!!

... to have a well-earned relax and a game of charades with the bar staff as Sam tried to order a glass of vodka and diet coke. Looking around at fellow patrons we soon realised where the confusion lay; everyone else was ordering bottles of unidentified spirits; just a glass appeared to be unheard of.

Having lost some time we decided to get the earliest bus out of town up into the mountains and miss out on the local monasteries and museums, so with our limited time in town ...

Plateau pastures scorched to hues of brown by the thin-aired sun, herds of black yak, a cluster of deer beside a frozen river, solitary tents and birds of prey with stretching wingspan, their feather tips gripping just enough of the particle-less sky to stay afloat. Snow-filled furrows and snow-dusted peaks rising either side.
Such beauty outside. Such beauty.
