Thursday was a quiet day travelling the French countryside,.. through valleys between huge mountain formations, along rivers that look like they carry significant run-off,.. especially when the winter snows melt. ... my wildest expectations, with excellent organization, careful planning, great concert repertoire and venues, and a wonderful group of people, both students and faculty. Everyone was treated with great respect and dignity, which was very much appreciated. Things have moved very quickly here; with performances every night there are lots of rehearsals, horn classes, and individual lessons. After the very successful horn quartet performance Saturday evening at the church, on Sunday, we traveled to the town of Schmelz, for an open air concert. ... ridden through a few times but never really stopped and explored any of it and today I was quite tempted to do just that. As I head along the motorway I keep seeing exits and keep thinking of taking one of the exits just to go and explore the local areas but I never did.
