Left Brisbane early on route to Byron Bay via Surfers Paradise. It was raining today and it never let up. Our aim was to have breakfast in Surfers Paradise, we both assumed that it would be a very laid back place, instead it was full of high rise buildings, hotels and apartments. Because we're all in our little backpacker bubble no one really knew/cared that the G20 summit was on during ...

... watchful eyes of a lengthy lizard. Checking in first at the site office to book a 2nd night at this perfect chilled hide away bay. Clambering our weary legs back on board, slipping into something dry and comfy to slouch about in making supper at 6pm. Camper had on its menu tonight; onion & garlic mushroom soup with cheese, ham, salad & avocado toastie. Devouring the tasty tea in no time, we changed quickly to wander back into town for ...

... called to say the compressor had gone and they couldn't get the parts for a few days, needless to say a few more phone calls were made. The guys at the garage couldn't have been more helpful, fabulous hospitality, they even offered to plug the van in at the garage so we could stay there the night, tactfully we declined. The hire company finally agreed to send a replacement van out from Brisbane (originally ...
