... we would be smart about breakfast and lunch. We just laid around the different lounge areas on the ship and watched the hairy chest contest, hilarious. The winner looked just like Jimmy’s uncle Quay. They had great reggae music by the pool and we listened to that for a long time. We were sleepy from all the relaxing inactivity and drinks and had a nap before the formal captain’s dinner. Thankfully the red wine stains came out of our formal wear. Let me back up ...

Force of Nature

... up onto their 20 foot high balconies, sitting in deck chairs and sipping a cocktail. There is a lot of patriotism about and a strong belief in their country. The Americans do believe in the healing power of the Stars and Stripes. A lot of them flap quite raggedly attached to shattered wooden frames of what were once beautiful family homes.

Good luck and positive energy to all those that have to re-build their lives because of Hurricane Ike.

Although we spent all day under an umbrella at the beach, we still managed to get a little burnt when playing in the sea! We both have pink knees (must have missed the sunblock there lol!)
We have also been dining in the all you can eat buffets for 2 days! Hope you cant tell!

Just a few snaps for you to check out -
Hope all is well at home!

Battleship Texas

... one with the best reviews, so I'm looking forward to a nice experience. After all, it's Toyota! This may be the only vehicle I've ever had with (above) average mileage. At ten, my Corsica had just over 100,000 miles; at thirteen, my Camry had the same. You know, I love this thing so much that it's the first time I've enjoyed driving since before the bad car accident I had in 1986. I had forgotten how much fun driving is!

NASA Rocks (but eat before you go)

And check your directions... Webster is doing some major road construction, so Google Maps, MapQuest, and my Garmin GPS showed no trace of the new exit, or the new road named "NASA Parkway". After a few wrong turns and a phone call, I finally found Johnson Space Center. (I would have done better if I'd just driven down the few main roads and looked out the window! ha) Parking was $5 and the lot had few cars, not many more than you'd ...

Bon Voyage

... to a CC Slot Pull...we each put in a twenty and got to pull ten times...at the end we ended up winning our twenty back plus one dollar. We decided to eat at Johnny Rockets for lunch and ran into Laurie & David, so we had a great lunch together and then watched the ending for Mr. Voyager of the Seas. Headed back to the room for a nap but got caught up in the movie, Made of Honor. We had formal dinner tonight, then to the promenade for the Captain's Welcome ...

Galveston - Carnival Conquest Terminal

... it was time for us to board the ship that's going to take us to the Caribbean, The Carnival Conquest. I stood in awe, the 1st time I lay my eyes on the mammoth-sized ship. It's 952ft from bow to stern and 114ft wide. The ship also features 13 passenger decks, housing four swimming pools - one with a 214ft long water slide - a 15 ...

... Galveston and then unload them onto a U.S. Coast Guard ship close to Cuba. Consequently, security had to check and make sure none of the refugees escaped in Galveston. In between our 1st and 2nd days at sea, our ship stopped at 1AM near Cuba to unload the refugees. First time anything like this has ever happened on a cruise I've been on.

We're seeing Galveston

... with these memories until their death? This movie is worth seeing. The seats aren't that comfortable, but you shouldn't be in an easy chair while you watch the effects of over 6,000 people dieing in such a short time period. I'm trying to shake off the memories of the film before and during dinner, but some of the scenes come back to haunt me repeatedly. It's late when we ge to the hotel. And a little tired. We've got a packed day again tomorrow.

Deep Tanks!

... oil that would fill them. Each lid had to be pressure tested so as not to leak oil when full and when the ship was moving around in bad weather! Not to leak the other way allowing saltwater ingress.
The job of preparing these tanks for service was deemed to be the Apprentices! What a job! First we needed to clean them after their last cargo of coconut oil, much of which had solidified inside them. Then the ...
