And so after a long flight - 12+ hours - we arrived in Paris, grabbed a quick drink and then on to Birmingham. ... cottage that just reminded me of the quaint wee English cottage in one of my favourite movies 'The Holiday' (I found out that the actual cottage in the movie was custom-built and knocked down, the pubs interiors are in a place in Shire, Surrey - very tranquil). A wee stop at Broadway, it's pouring and it's really cold, the shop windows all decorated for Christmas - it's beautiful. Broadway is something else. Past many villages, calling into a few. ... here. The Royal Flying Club was started here as a hobby then became important in war. Jaguar cars are manufactured here. Stopped at Stratford where Shakespeare was born in 1564. His grandfather, Richard was a wealthy farmer. His dad, John apprenticed to make sheepskin gloves and when he came home bought two houses in Stratford; one to live and one as business. John married and had son William who only went to school from ages 11to15. His dad thought ...
