Another one of those learning curves!

... br>After a tasty pho, I went to the museum and an art gallery showing an exhibition of Hanoian early photography of the city and it's people, and then took a walk around the city, near the park and the Reunification Palace (save that for another day), found the Post Office too. What a great building. After just a couple of visits I'm finding my feet and not feeling quite so much like there's a Tourist sticker on my head!

So Long Vietnam!

... that it cost an additional $11 and was OPTIONAL. Of course, I had not booked this "scenic" boat ride, as I wanted to save money. Apparently the boat ride is a scam, because there is no bus back. After lunch, the guide pulled me aside and said he would cut the price in half if I wanted to take the boat, as everyone else had booked the boat and I was the only person riding the bus. I told him that I'd rather take the bus.. Just before our departure from the Mekong, he pulled me aside ...

I'm not american, stop hating me old woman....

... thought of a night train hanging over us. First stop was the Ho Chi Minh palace, which in itself was quite weird, probably because it was a 60's architectural dream (very York like) and so not like a palace in the slightest. Was still quite cool to look around though, royalty are definetly into the austere here, very plain bedrooms with no bling. Felt quite sorry for them, did they perhaps look at our glitzy little queen and think ...

2 weeks of beach and partying carnage in Thailand

... ouch!!

Not quite sure what my next plans are - a few days in/around the city before heading north... it's strange being on my own again but it feels good to be proper travelling again as the last 2 weeks have just been a holiday really.
What a holiday though - the 11 or so of us got on so well considering we'd met at the same time - there was inter-group relationships, arguments, tears, and sooooo much laughter.... I have so many good memories to keep - thank you all guys x x
... broke the Geneva Accords. Although arguably justified, I still don't believe that things like this should be used for further political gain on either side but I suppose that is the way of the world.

After a brief coffee, the others got a taxi back whilst I walked (I wanted to clear my head a little). I really enjoyed my walk especially the bit where I was standing in the middle of 8 lanes of traffic during rush hour - very hair-raising especially the part where a moped ...

It's not all fun and games

... Americans left behind, fighter planes, tanks, a bomb etc etc...inside you have pictures and memorabilia from their wars. There's the famous "Tiger Cages" which is a small barbed wire cage that looks like it can barely fit one human being let alone the 2 or 3 they'd cram in there for years. There's a big hatchet thing that was used to behead people. I went with the couple and the guy started playing with it.
I'm like a mom when I say "No, no don't play with ...

Cu Chi Tunnel Warfare

... fought in the Vietnam War for the South as an ally of the Americans. The journey to the tunnels took around 2 hours, with the obligatory toilet break and stop at a lacquer ware factory, which provides opportunities to disabled children and
victims from the war. Some of the pieces were beautiful, but we simply can't carry any more items.

Upon arrival to the tunnels we had to pay an 80,000 VND entry fee. Our guide gave us a brief history to the ...
