After a long nerve-filled night, it was finally time to roll out of bed and make our way over to the airport. It was kind of scary to finally be at the point where we were waiting to check into our first flight to Vancouver- we were going to China! I love to travel, and a place that is a little more dangerous or where a little less people speak English has never really scared me, but I never thought in a million years that I would be going to China. It seemed to be one of those places that yo...

... soon landed and made our way with the whole flight to customs. We eventually got to an agent. He looked at the CBSA form and asked what we had bought for the amount claims. I pulled out our print out and he asked where did we get a lap top for $200? We said in Thailand and he wrote numbers on the back of the form and said good-bye.

We then headed down the stairs to get our bags and leave for the connecting flight. No ...
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada dancejill... of Rugby, north on highway 3, and into the Turtle Mountain region. I was amused by the enormous turtle constructed entirely out of wheel rims. Strange, but true...we have the photos to prove it. Shawn climbed right onto its head, about 15 feet off the ground, and the whole thing started to shake and sway. I don't think it was meant to be a climbing structure! Lunch was at a little diner on the road. I parked next to an old El Dorado ...
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada bill212... very little structure or direction and I've pretty much feel as if I've been winging it this whole time. I am thankful that I have previous traveling experience or else I would probably feel very lost. And so, my journey begins... Lots of love, Francine "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness. Broad, wholesome views cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth." - Mark Twain
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada azurra... to be precise. We pulled over in a town called Ignace. Shopped at the local (tiny) grocer's to supplement the cooler with crackers and yogurt. Found a beach front called Agimah & enjoyed a smorgasbord that included flavoured tuna (lemon pepper and thai chili) on crackers, sliced veggies - cucumbers, peppers, & carrots - pepsi, and yogurt + fruit for dessert. It was fun especially the baywatch moments that followed ...
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada msting... as far as costs and fuel prices go, but if all works out well, after this summer, and working for a few more months, I am hoping to head off to the other other side of the world. Australia!!! It's been a long time coming this trip, and now that I am back home and no longer concentrating on where in Europe to go to next, it's a bit easier to focus on a new trip and put that into perspective. I think you always need to ...
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada steph_444... somehow in my work. If you want more info on it you can email me and ask as well. If you don't wish to share but just want to email back and say 'hi' that would be cool too. We miss all you's out there on the road and we plan to get back there some day in the not too distant future. Hope you're all doing well and staying happy. All our best and a frozen thumbs up. It won't go down anymore. Dan and Gabrielle
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada dangabesisaak... Booth Bay Harbor. Boy, did we need the time to rest up. While there we visited the Bath Iron Works where they are building AEGIS destroyers for the Navy. They look HUGE, especially sitting on dry dock and you are looking at them from the keel up. Also visited a 1900's ship building museum and was able to see a lot of the old tools, etc., that it took to build wooden sailing ships. They built the "Wyoming" there that was the largest wooden ...
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada jgsreh... fun if I didn't get stung by a wasp halfway through. Actually, a few of the girls from Singapore did too so if you're heading there watch out! We then began our slow trek back. By the time we got back across the river it was about time for our next tour. We hopped on a boat with our guide and a couple (I think from Austria?) and headed down the river towards the Orang Asli Village. Orang Asli translates to "original people" and they are the people who arrived in Malaysia way before ...

(For the uniniti*ted, there'll be * le*st * couple of p*r*gr*phs devoted to the 'eh' concept in P*rt II. Yes, there's enough m*teri*l for * Pt II!)
