Well, the big day has arrived to visit the Winter Palace and Hermitage. A short walk in the falling snow to the Palace and in amongst the crowds and yes our information was right...it's free, but you still need to get a ticket and go through airport style security! Join another queue to check in our coats and again the obvious jobs worth approach in dealing with their tasks...will explain later. So much to see still and couldn't make our minds up what to do! We are waiting till tomorrow to go to the Winter Palace and Hermitage as its free apparently on the first Thursday of the month and you need a full day there....well actually it's recommended that you take eight days!! First look at the city in the daylight, which only gets light from about 09:45 onwards! But first a little about the temperature....in the buildings. It's hot! Everywhere the buildings are roasting hot, people in T shirts and light clothes....such a contrast from outside at about -4 deg C today!
