... Then we headed off for a tour of Victoria Island. First downtown where we saw the inner harbour, Parliament House, The Empress (very old hotel where Queen Elizabeth used to stay) and some First Nation (indigenous) people selling their crafts.

After getting off the coach from the Butchart Gardens, Mom and I decided to take a walk along the harbour. Mom and I always seem to make it down to the harbour at the end of the day. The harbour is very relaxing and helps us unwind after a long and busy day.
After walking around the harbour, Mom and I headed up Government Street to Chinatown. The Chinatown in Victoria is the oldest one in Canada - second oldest one in North America only to San Francisco.

Decks five and six were where passengers could hang out, in anything from a buffet restaurant or casual cafe, comfortable chairs and Wi Fi Internet corrals were in abundance, as well as an expensive gift shop, even a video games parlour for the kids. Jennifer's day off so we all went into Victoria to check out the city. It's not a huge city but it's well set out, very British looking and on a beautiful harbour. On BC Day apparently, they have a floating pontoon in the harbour and the Victorian Symphony Orchestra play a free concert-1812 Overture complete with cannon fire. Would be great to see. ... pretty jovial, and reminded me of one of the reasons why I do actually like Canada from time to time. The young guy behind me grabbed my croissant box and helped me balance my stuff, all the while making small talk about the problems of traveling by oneself.
