Victoria Falls Safari Lodge

Hangin around at the petrol stations gave me an added extra advantage of being able to meet potential lifts ...and them to meet me.............no matter how brief .....a simple meeting on the forecourt went along way further to secure a deal..........then tthe shooting past of a stranger on the side of the road at 120km per hour!

... so the US Dollar is now the currency of choice, this actually makes things quite expensive because they don't use coins and everything is minimum 1 dollars. Tiere soweit das Auge reicht!

Waren wir im letzten Bericht noch fasziniert von den ersten Tieren die wir sahen, so wurden wir in den letzten Tagen von der Menge der gesehenen Tiere überwältigt. Wir verbrachten vier Nächte im Etosha und sind nun im Caprivi (zwischen Angola/Sambia und Botswana) unterwegs.

... Tuesday. But we haven't actually cared one bit because WE ARE IN AFRICA!!!!. Ok, so our adventure officially started yesterday when we rolled out of bed at 6am to catch a taxi for our microlight flight. We donned our marshmallow man flight suits and flew up in these tiny open air planes with our cool Australian who lives in the African bush pilot. The view was ridiculously cool. ... as old as 45, and we also had two babies with us, 4 and 2. It was really quite an experience to interact with them. They are really quite animals -- except the baby when she wanted milk while we were still on our walk. She threw a little two year old temper tantrum. It was quite funny. So 7 weeks down now with a week to go... which is a bit sad. It has become life for me now... I sleep better in a tent than in a bed, i quite like long life milk on my cereal now, and going to bed at 9pm is staying up late! Victoria Falls was very different from what I had imagined. The place was a ghost town (likely due to the political images of Mubage coming out of the Western press).
