    ... months of travel and the last few weeks have been really cold. The weather turned a little warmer - in the 50's F or 13-15 C. We didn't care that it rained almost every day. At least we weren't freezing!

    We splurged a little on a nice room at the Orka Hotel. It's maybe a 4 star quality hotel. After a little haggling, they wouldn't come down on the already low off-season price but they upgraded our room to a suite. We loved ...

    ... surface and opens his fat adorable little mouth for a 1 lira (50 cent) fish sold by an enterprising Turkish gentleman, who I’m almost certain catches them by occasionally dipping a net into the water and scooping out some of the many minnows swimming safely around the turtle too lazy to catch them himself.

  • Walking down the streets to the tune of "Yes please! Ice cream, coke, meatballs, kebab, ….". Somebody seems to have taught the restaurant owners ...

    ... and waste the last bit of gas going uphill on another bumpy, dodgy road to nowhere and having to backtrack yet again...in the dark, with no phone, no water, with a useless map, in the cold, and nowhere to go, and no gas to get there.

You can see many of the old buildings and stairways leading down into the ocean with walls of buildings and the city that once stood still partly visible underwater.
