... live in Newcastle, NSW. The rest were pretty much Americans. A nice ride through orange and lemon trees to the site which was set among old trees and wild flowers everywhere. Very pretty and so much history it was very busy with school groups and our cruise tours - would not like to be there in the height of summer with thousands of tourists. The houses and businesses as a whole looked very uncared for and being Sunday nearly everything was closed and very few locals ...

... it was a scorching temperature I opted for a cup of coffee instead of cold drink, just to keep my concentration level high.

Bus service was readily available from and to Athens. As it was October I had to skip the sunset experience. I feared to have been late for my scheduled bus home. I took the next bus back to Athens. At 7pm I still had a chance to admire the gorgeous sun setting from one of
Athens hills.

... cavity of a rock, Ypapanti Monastery. Very indicative of its kind is currently unsettled and belongs to the Great Meteoro Monastery. Apparently, in 1367, two onks, Nilos and Cyprianus founded and owned the monastery. In 1809 it was destroyed when the local rebel and hero Papathymios Vlahavas was arrested here by the Turkish army of Ali Pasha.

Great Meteoro Monastery remains the biggest one. It was founded by Saint Athanasios ...

... strewn across the beach – can you believe Carl failed to notice the topless women! Several churches dominate the landscape, with over 350 churches and chapels, so it is surprise to hear that it is a wedding destination for many.Polly, Carl I all agreed that PV sunsets are equally spectacular!
