... so later today we hope to wet our feet in Positano. 3.30pm to Positano after a couple of photo stops on the way. We travelled the Amalfi Coast Road which was a very 'hairy' experience at times, in spite of a magnificent view. Walked down to the "beach"- a black, pebbly stretch, but the water was mild and clean and refreshing. I went up to my knees, but 2 others went in clothes and all- they had to buy clothes to wear back to Sorrento! Back by 7.30pm and hopefully an early ...
... and I tried to upgrade to a cabin but it was too late…we were stuck with a tent. Luckily Nat was kind enough to put us together so it wouldn’t be all bad. We weren’t sure whether to feel like we were back at school or in the circus! The tents were like little marquees, blue and white stripped (hence the circus), enough room for 2 single beds and a very small walk way. There was about 10 tents all around in a circle…yep this was home for 3 nights. ...
A quick visit to Naples
In short - we arrived in naples at night, checked in, picked up a traditional Napoli pizza (margherita ...easily better than anything in rome) and took it easy. We explored the city in the rain and headed down to Pompeii.
Due for an early start, we woke up early at the base of Mt Vesuvius, ready to explore the ancient ruins of Pompeii which are incredibly well preserved due to the volcanic eruption in 79AD
