... the Muslims down to ensure Christianity was King and this convent was within spitting distance of Sagres, where he had his maritime training all fits, you know! Anyway, in 1846, a lighthouse was deemed to be more useful and it is so powerful, we can see it in our van 5km away!

Well, its time to leave the sunshine and sand of the Algarve and see what Lisbon has to offer. Tomorrow is another day, as they say!

... on TripAdvisor (I believe some Europeans may be 'castle-snobs'), we find it to our liking. Impressive views and informative historical signs (with English sections) and the remains within the walls. No, it's not filled with gardens etc., but somehow I doubt the Moors had many flower gardens!

We're off & driving again. Leaving the tame & touristy Eastern Algarve for the wilder & more adventurous Western Algarve.
