... Christmas Day so they were guessing all the way into town on the tram to the Palace Hotel.
We arrived to an amazing sight and were seated for our Christmas buffet brunch. It was brilliant! The pictures tell the story better than a description but was just wow including the live music, towering Christmas trees, gingerbread houses and giant snow globes filled with candy, gingerbread images.

Interesting fact, Golden Gate Bridge has the highest suicide rate in the USA, and hence have 4 emergency counselling phones up there. Apparently the view is so beautiful it compels people to throw themselves off it. At least 1 fatality a week through suicide.

The afternoon was all about our trip to the famous Alcatraz ( Island of sea birds) and former prison. A definate 'must do' and a great boat trip into San Francisco Bay, included as well!
On our way back to the hotel we stopped off at Pier 39 to see the sea lions basking on the pontoons.
A great first day.
