      ... in his ways. In the second, if that man carried a weapon into a store in California, he could very well be arrested for flaunting it. But here, no one blinked an eye. And why should they? He is clearly a family man with no agenda other than protecting his family and looking like a badass.

      We used warmshowers this evening and found a family that gave us showers and lawnspace. Very nice people, we are grateful.

      ... the western slope of the pass much the day before because of the rain showers. As it worked out, this was a good choice. It was much different than what I saw on Sunday.       ... took a bit of a detour off the highway onto a less busy road, and headed south for a bit. This was a beautiful drive along a valley up in the National Forest. We were not successful in finding a free camp so we went to a National Forest Service campsite for $10 a night and swam in a lake, lit a big roaring fire and had dinner with the mozzies!
