... they had to give us an upgrade to a suite. Well, if they have to then we just will have to accept it! :-) The Longmen Caves: it was quite a walk to reach the first cave but they are impressive! Just to give you an idea - there are 1,350 caves, 750 niches and 40 pagodas which house 110,000 statues carved out of the limestone. Three of the caves - called Bingyang had 800,000 men working on them and it took 23 years ...

At 11.30 we arrived into Luoyang and I noticed a sign for the Longman Grotto, which struck me as odd but not for now. We pulled up at the hotel and jumped out. We had imagined a small out of the way town with a small out of the way two star motel, not unlike the US, with lumpy beds and thin walls with your own special menagerie of bugs. What we ...

The Ancient Tombs is a place set up to show the different types of tombs from the different periods of history. They were all relocated into the one spot, from different places around Luoyang. I suppose a lot of them were in the way of development so needed to be put in an area where they wouldn't get damaged. There was also a tomb that was opened and apppeared to be in it's original position.
We caught a cab back and went to the ...
