... We had read about these without realising how close they were. The road wound almost vertically up the hillside and suddenly there they were. Tall limestone pinnacles each topped by a granite boulder. Apparently when the glaciers retreated they left the limestone with boulders embedded in it. As the limestone erodes the boulder protects the top. A very strange sight indeed.
