Granada

... massage at the 14th Century Royal Arabic Baths, followed by an exciting late night of passionate flamenco dancing in one of the gypsy caves atop the high precipice of Granada's steep sacred mountain. "Tapeando" (appetizer-hopping) at the charming bistros, cafés and tasquinas in the medieval stone streets of the colorful Mudejar quarter. (Continued....)Click Next Entry Below

Caravaca of the True Cross

A mix of big town madness with busy streets and confusing parking bays before siesta and a dozy old world charming village if you climb to the Church of the true cross atop the hill and return to the old town during siesta. Apparently a miracle brought a piece of Christ's actual cross to this location, that the angels chose this rather lost, off the beaten track location tells me that the miracle was that those two winged messengers even managed to find Spain.

First to Madrid

... not ever having anything run smoothly, running out of money to go to Madrid, work getting in the way of things...life really. But now we're off. I'ts 47 degrees outside and I fixed the air-con in the car ready to leave yesterday (except that we didn't realize that we had to have Dads bloody passport stamped... done now!) So, we have an 8.30 appointment at the Embassy for the queue and probably a good 3-4hr wait to be seen. Luckily we've got somewhere to stay.

Running out of time...

... the next time I stay at one! The people running the place are both extremely nice, and surprisingly younger than I would have expected B & B owners to be. The highlight for me is definitely their beautiful garden, complete with quite a large swimming pool, several secluded outdoor seating areas, and beautiful flowers and fragrant orange trees. Beauty seemed to be the theme of the short day ...

Great Granada

... the amazing cathedral and royal chapel (they do build amazing churches in Europe - can see where all the money used to go) and wandering through the old town (which was settled in the 7th century BC!). We´re heading to London tonight (in fact will miss our plane if we don´t leave shortly) after I have managed to fill up a lot of our bags with shopping. Will talk to you all soon from London town Elyssa and Dave.

Gibraltar and Granada

... top cleared just as we where there so we got a chance to see the actual peak. It was an amazing view from the top even without getting to see Africa. On the rock you also get see the Barbary apes, which actually come from Africa and have settled on the rock of Gibraltar. I didnt get the chance to have fish and chips in the UK, so this was the next best place to try it out. Going back to the bus, we had to walk across the airport runway as the main road forms part of the runway ...

Granada - no, not the drink, the place!

Greetings from hot Granada! It´s been another couple of hot days around 38 degrees, and a walking tour of the La Ahambra (Spain´s most visited attraction - an old Musim Mosque, palace and medina) is not the most relaxing or cool way to spend a morning. Beautiful gardens & unbelievable architeture. The amount of detail in the carvings is amazing. A photo can only show you so much. Last night we had an Arabic ...

The Alhambra and Moroccan Marketplace

7:00 came pretty early this morning, but lucky for us the sun did rise before we had to head up the steep, steep hill to get to the palace. It apprears their was a miscommunication of information about the length and steepness of the pedestrians entrance to the Alhambra. Our hotel sits right at the base of the palace, however, we needed to pick up our tickets at the completely opposite end of the Generalife. We each had audioguides which ...

Fish-heads and steep hills!

... travels with Mom and Tim. Once we figured out how to get everything in the car, we headed out of town. Navigating the city was much easier this time around, and the road to Granada was pretty clear cut. I have been talking about this drive for at least 3 weeks, because we were planning on stopping again at Rio Frio for more fresh trout. I had the trout with ham in it, and it was just so good! The olives were amazing (i think i at ...
