Our first stop is Nessebar, a quiet little port in Bulgaria. The seaside town is a mix of old and new. On one side of the harbor we see modern hotels and, on the other, there are remnants of buildings from the Roman period. The small hotel in Ecebat, the Villa Casa, was delightful and it had wonderful garden where we ate a small picnic supper after the very nice fish lunch we had. After a warm night spent in the garden drinking the local wine (the Sulva vineyard was 300m from the house) and very good too....

We didn't get up quite as early as we planned but were still away by 9.30. The drive up to the Bulgarian border ...

Today the Christmas box team took the highway East 250 miles to Burgas to begin our distributions. On the way, we stopped to see our old friend Marianna Dimitrova, who is an ex-pupil of Lipnitsa Orphanage/School. The Trussell Trust worked together with Mr Petkov, Lipnitsa's headteacher, to help Marianna escape an abusive family situation. It's really good to see her with a family of her own now and working in her village ...
