8 The road to wherever 28-09-15 Utia de Borz to Stelvio
today may not have been as exciting as yesterday but I sure headed over a
number of passes in the wonderful Alps and better still I finally managed to

... taking a local bus to the Muottas Muragl funicular railway which took us up 700 meters (2100 ft) for an amazing view of the Bernina Peak, its massive Glacier and the neighbouring mountains. The area had many hiking trails but most were covered in snow so we were not able to venture far in our sneakers. We saw many slightly older couples going up the funicular in hiking boots and hiking poles but I did not see them on the trails ...
... I got here today to TIrano. I expected just a small stopover town since this is where the Bernina Express ends but it is a lovely little town. It is almost 5:30 so I doubt I will get any pictures; however, I can tell you we had a lovely lunch of fish with what else but two scoops of gelato ( not at the same time-lol) Two hours in Italy and we are already hitting the gelato counter - works for me!!! ...
