From there we rode back to Guarda, climbing scenic switchbacks to the parking area outside the medieval village, which is closed to traffic.     Jacob had done his research & decided we had to drive on this Stelvio Pass which had been featured on Top Gear...loads of twists & turns up the mountain.

    left Venice & headed towards the Dolomites...the road is marked 'treacherous ' on the map...must be an exaggeration obviously says me.

    road is normal for an hour or two, then gradually the terrain becomes hillier & steeper. But this is NOT the Stelvio Pass ...

    Yesterday we
    met the Queen, today we met the Beautiful Princess.



    Our crew
    was keen for an easy ride today of only 42 kilometres up to the Cancona Lake.

    A climb of
    8klm and an average gradient of 6.9%. They call this ride the mini Stelvio.
