First full day in Roma

A travel blog entry by bkmuir on Sep 17, 2014

Slept in and didn't leave hotel until after 9am. Not really anywhere for breakfast which we found out on our walk yesterday afternoon. Decided just to go to McDonalds. Had bacon and egg mcmuffins and hash browns. Also cappuccino and tea. 9.50 euro all up so not bad. Shame has browns were cold. Oh well. Then walked around Rome and saw. Lot of things …

Woke early, busy day ahead! No scheduled tour planned, but we had our own itinerary. We took the shuttle to drop off point beyond the port gates, from here we walked about 20 mins to the train station. It was still only 8.10 in the morning. Caught the 8.42 train into Roma! A busy train, about an hours journey, in which we had to stand most of the …

We walked up the street to St. Peter's Basilica were we spent a lot of time. It is the largest church in the world. It is stunning inside. To the right you see a statue by …

Woke up shortly before 7am this morning and we had breakfast. Big day today as we are going to visit Vatican City. We left a bit late and arrived in the Vatican museum at 10:45 am. The tickets we booked online are for 10:30 but found out that time isn't a problem as we got there with no penalties
