Today we joined the queue for the Vatican City. And boy was it a line. The thing wrapped right around the corner and went for days! We were in the line from 945am until 1215pm!
Mum managed to make friends with some people from Bulgaria. They were really lovely and helped to pass the time. Going to have to visit Bulgaria now lol.
Once we got inside there were so many people and we just moved from line to line, it was real test of patience.
But after an eight year wait I finally saw the Sistine chapel :D

When in Rome

There are so many wonderful things to do in Rome, but the one thing we did in Rome that we never would anywhere else, is purposefully seek out churches. Since we didn't have luck yesterday with some of the churches we started our morning walking through our neighborhood - Trastevere District. Here we found a tiny church called S. Maria in …

Buona Mattina, Good morning This morning began too early! We departed at 9 AM for the Vatican, a independent country housed behind walls in the center of Rome. It is the home of the pope and the smallest state in the world ( smaller than Stony Brook campus!) Despite its small size, it is packed with history, including tapestries, ancient statues …

Vatican and the Sistine Chapel

We had an early start to our day as we purchased early access passes to the Sistine Chapel before it opened so we could see it without the crazy crowds. We definitely made the right decision. When we left, the line wrapped around two streets that probably spanned about a half mile. Our tour guide took us in at 7:45 and we walked through the Vatican …

Ciao! Rome is a very old city. We visited Vatican today. Vatican City is the smallest country in the world, which is inside Rome. It might take max 20 minutes to walk around Vatican City. We were informed about the long queues to get in to Vatican. But it's nothing like what we expected. The queue for St Peters Basilica is definitely the longest …
