Varonos Delphi

Today we are doing a side trip to Delphi. We leave our big packs at the hotel and take enough for an overnight trip. The bus left at 10:30 from Terminal B just down the road from the hotel. Actually a long way down the road, it took us 40 minutes to walk there. The bus left promptly on time, it is a 3 hour ride. Hotel Varonos has so much out for breakfast. Lots of juices to chose from, sweet breads, buns, donuts, and fruits, we've never had fruits before unless we brought our own. A variety of cereals, cheese, meats, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and boiled eggs. We were impressed and well fed. The valley view was filled with clouds this morning, they come and go. Hello from Delphi, Diann and I visited Meteora Thursday and Friday and drove to Delphi today. Meteora is this amazing area where a number of monasteries were built high up on a number of cliffs between the 12th and 16th centuries and have continued to be used today, although a couple of them are now convents. Sunday morning we drove from Olympia across the Corinth Strait and into the mountains to the village of Delphi.

We return on the same road to Lamia , where we plan to take the mountain road to Delphi . Tuesday 6th. Today is slightly cloudy, cool with a hint of sunshine. We enjoy a wonderful buffet in the elaborately decorated breakfast room. The owners must be real pack rats, as every vacant space in their public rooms is filled with bric-a-brac. The sun is gone, heavy rain clouds are moving in overhead and the temperature is dropping.
