We have discovered that our trips onto small towns always seem more authentic than our trips to the big cities. While you HAVE to visit the sites in the major cities, and we do love them, there's just something so much more personal about heading into a smaller, non-touristy town (or at least where there aren't as many tourists). [L]Feeling a little less than at peace with Slovakia we headed further south to the Hungry Border. Our first stop in Hungry was the home of the Lipanzer horses Szilvasvarad. We finally made it out even though we wished we had an extra day there. We went into town and saw the castle and walked the cobblestone streets. We even saw that they were working on excavating parts of the town and the area around the castle- it is still a work in progress. The town had a ton of charm and it's truly an unknown ...

... before the gates closed for the night. Since it was winter we were just able to wander around the entire complex for free. The castle is famous for the 6th century siege by the Ottoman Turks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_of _Eger), but it must have had many different periods of construction, because there were still some walls being actively excavated, others that were largely intact, and others that appear to be reconstructed. Of course, ...
