... guests. Peter and Dinah were leaving, and were collected by Deana for transfer to Budapest. Roy took me back to the hotel, with a detour to the centre of Eger, a lovely old town, to get some postcards. I took advantage of the spacious indoor pool before supper, where Roy kindly kept me company as he was waiting for his latest guest. We had a good chat about Devon and Cornwall (where Roy had been a policeman), and enjoyed a few birding ...

Visited the local horse stud and watched the stupid foals playing. Nothing like the smell of stables to brighten the spirits. PS still raining heavily, add a bit of thunder and lightening ...

... so we went back there and did- delicious idea! She held our hands and kissed our cheeks saying prayers in Hungarian to us, Chris nearly teared up! We finally made it out even though we wished we had an extra day there. We went into town and saw the castle and walked the cobblestone streets. We even saw that they were working on excavating parts of the town and the area around the castle- it is still a work in progress. The town had a ton of charm and it's truly an unknown ...
