... at the caves and then made our way to Wang Sai Thong Waterfall via a kayak down the river. The caves were really beautiful and unspoiled with very limited impact from people. It required a small crawl to gain access to the opening in the beginning of the cave which opened up to a very large room. This was good for me because I am not a caver by nature and I really ...

    Koh Lipe

... was a big mistake and started to make me feel rather queasy I blamed the Pringles but we got there no problem at all. Pulling into the harbour at Koh Lipe is something like from the film the beach well there is no harbour as such only an array of different size pontoons with longtail boats ferrying tourists over the coral from the pontoon to the beach itself. Thai logistics begin and end without warning or explanation. Waiting for the boat on the Pier in Pak Bara you have no idea which boat you are waiting for, how you'll get on it, or who's in charge. You can't even really tell who the staff are, who's a paying customer, or who's just along for the ride. Then at the time the boat is supposed to be pulling away from the pier about half a dozen Thais start milling around in the crowd ...

... seating. It is only about $5US per night and once we settle in, we agree that 'it will do.' We have been spoilt by the liberating expanse of Koh Phayam, but really shouldn't complain too much about this paradise.

After a swim in the not so clear waters of the cove we set off along a trail through the jungle to explore the island. A dirt path leads up a hill and into a smal hamlet with more bungalows, a cafe and a few village houses where children play and chickens peck ...
