... goats, and sheep. As soon as Elofonisi came into view, we knew that the drive had been worth it. The beach has several inlets of turquoise water, set off by the white and pink sand. This part of the island can have very strong winds, so we headed to the more protected side of the beach and found ourselves some 3.5 euro lounge chairs under tiki style umbrellas. From there on, the day slipped lazily by as we alternated people watching, gazing out at e ...

... fantastic seafood. At the end of the meal we were given free desserts and shots of vodka, an interesting way to end lunch! Kyle and I wandered the alleys a bit more before joining Ally and Blair back at e hotel for a rest. We are already regretting only giving ourselves 3 days on this incredible ...

Anyway the Germans were never going to land there so guess he was saved the embarrassment of having to defend it. Cemetery closed due to spraying. Not a good day for seeing what I had planned to see. I did manage to go around the back of the cemetery via the beach and have a look though so all ...

... Along the way, we miraculously found an open gas station (cash only) and filled up our rental car for 60€. At 8:45 we were back much to the glee of the front desk. "You are marathon hikers!" they exclaimed in their adorable and prototypical Greek accents. While the ladies showered, Tom walked to a nearby Gyros Grill and 30 minutes later he was back and we all enjoyed dinner on our balcony. The entire meal was 7.70€, less than Sue's Greek salad from the ...

... The total bill was under 50€. We strolled back along the waterfront to our car and drove home, taking note of the long lines at the ATMs and the many closed gas stations. Apparently in addition to a run on the banks, there was a run on gas stations who take credit cards, depleting most of them within a few hours. Back at our idyllic hotel bubble, we finished watching Grease, finally tucking ourselves in bed at 11pm. Like we said, we aren't very good at doing ...
