... I only have 45 euros on me. I asked if that would be okay, he agrees, we shake hands, onward and upward.

First full day in Crete, what should I do? BEACH .. obviously. I wake up around 7:30, wipe the sleep from my eyes, and notice a light coming through the crack of the door - sunshine !! We had dinner overlooking the harbor. A great end to a busy ...

... and then do a beverage and peanut service before we landed. They were really hopping. I was astounded that they would even have a beverage and snacks on such a short flight!

In Heraklion, we easily got a cab to our hotel - Hotel Iraklion. It was a very reasonably priced and clean hotel in the city center. We were thrilled that it had a/c. Across the street is a great little souvlaki stand. A souvlaki pita is €2.50 and has French fries on it and tzakiki on it. ...
