Today was Canada's Thanksgiving! We were excited to see how they celebrate and learn more about their traditions. To our surprise it seemed like a typical day. Stores and restaurants were open and people were out and about like a regular day. We asked at the hotel what their Thanksgiving celebrates and no one really seemed to know. The only answer we received was "turkey"? It rained most of the day with a high of 54. We found out that this is a pretty typical fall day. We were so excited to b...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada clemsonkatieWe started today by waking up to a beautiful Coal Harbour sunrise. You can't even begin to describe in words how beautiful this city is. Our room overlooks the eastern portion of downtown, as well as Stanley Park and Coal Harbour. What a view! After getting ready we headed out towards the Gastown district. As the birthplace of Vancouver, Gastown was initially a settlement that sprung up around a tavern founded in 1867 by sailor and gold prospector Gassy Jack Deighton. The cobblestone streets ...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada clemsonkatieToday was a GREAT day! We started our morning watching an older gentleman make us breakfast crepes right in front of us in a tiny cafe in our hotel. They were awesome! After another cup of delicious coffee, we headed out to the Tourism Vancouver office to purchase our tickets for the day. We bought a day pass for TransLink and two tickets to the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain Skyride. We made our way over to the SeaBus terminal just about a block away. The SeaBus is pretty coo...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada clemsonkatieToday was more of a relax and "see what we can find" kind of day. We started off with breakfast from the cafe downstairs in the hotel and then headed off in the rain to the main TransLink terminal. We bought our tickets and hopped on the SkyTrain (really, its the same thing as MARTA) and went down a couple of stops to Chinatown. We had high hopes for Chinatown, thinking we would find a plethora of shops and dining. It was nice, but it left us a little disappointed. There really wasn't a decen...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada clemsonkatieI think we've been doing this whole thing wrong. Apparently we should have created just one blog and then entry after entry, etc. But oh well, its been working okay and we haven't had any complaints from the peanut gallery. :-) Today we will be short with you (sore-y; yes that's sorry spelled how they say it here) b/c we are headed out early for our big day. We are going to be doing something really, really cool today; something we never imagined we would get to do in our lives. I don't want ...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada clemsonkatieWe are both so sad to leave this wonderful place. We had the wedding of our dreams and the best honeymoon we could have asked for to follow it. It will be really hard to pack it up today. But we must; so we are getting ready to head out to the airport. We arrive back in ATL at 10:28 tonight and then its back to life a usual. Well, we are married now! We didn't want to leave you hanging about Saturday...but we are going to. We just don't have enough time this morning to tell you everything abo...
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada clemsonkatieOkay, so we are both exhausted and ready for bed...but at the prompting of Joey's sister we will break the suspense. We hope we haven't built it up too much, but... We went whale watching! We got within 30 yards of WILD Orcas. Basically our guide told us that we got as close as he has ever been on a tour in his 4 years!!! This was an incredibly amazing experience for the both of us and something we will never forget. Not only did we see Orcas, but we also came within 200 yards of 5 Bald Eagle...
