Older hotel, but nice. Right on a waterway with great views of the boats. Take a short walk and you see the windmills from various angels between the homes.

... Again with the risk of misjudging a country because of my personal experience. It remains a fact that by meeting the right or wrong persons you may form an opinion about a county instead of an event.

In the 70’s there was a slogan used by the now defunct Trans Australian Airlines which was aired on TV supported by a group of female singers singing : Up up and away, the friendly way ,when you fly with T.A.A ! Well ...

The annual Alblassedam horses market is a special event that unites the community. Once a year, residents, ex residents, family, friends and associates from Alblassedam congregate here to meet, catch up and enjoy the day together. It was a nice relaxing day after the exhausting nature of our trip to Amsterdam. We arrived in Alblassedam this morning around 10.30am, first to exploring a typical stall marketplace in the city streets. ...

Beautiful warm sunshine, pretty scenery, good exercise and a nice tour of my Dutch roots and family history. It was also a return visit to some places I visited 7 years ago. Were home now, my rump thankful for the comforting soft of the couch after a full day, some 30 kilometres on the saddle of a bicycle. Our departure was a bit delayed after getting up late, mousses for breakfast and contacting home. I spoke to mum for the first time ...

Up at 5.15am. Out of the Clarion hotel by 5.30. At the train station by 5.45. On an express rocket train to Oslo airport at 6. At the airport by 6.25. Checked in, and aboard an SAS 737 bound for Amsterdam by 7.50am. Everything went according to plan. Being too early for breakfast, our hotel even presented us with a packed breakfast bag at our checkout. A lovely gesture. If only the food had been edible. The bread was so dry, I feel dehydrated just thinking about it.

And the next morning we were in Schiphol.
I can't really say it was a smooth landing. Usually when you land, you kind of bounce along and then you are almost thrust forward to the front of the plane.
This time there was no bouncing... it was a bonk as if the plane landed on all wheels at the same time. I guess the angle was a bit off while coming ...
