Cykeltur i Hoi An

A bloody fantastic day

Something was not quite right with my stomach this morning. It's amazing it's taken this long considering what we've been eating/drinking and me ignoring the ice rule on too any occasions.

So it was with some trepidation that I walked in to town with the gang for our bike ride out in to the country (Heaven & Earth Tours, www.vietnam- …

I say that with tongue in cheek. I don't think any of us have felt hurried or overwhelmed or pushed a any point in the trip so far. It was nice though, to have a day where nothing was organised.

So we did pretty much nothing.

We wandered into town and bought Al some sunnies (he thought I ripped off the guy selling them, I think …

Is it as good as we remember?

After breakfast we headed to the Tomb of Tu Dc, one of the seven royal tombs in and around Hue.

It was a very atmospheric place. Quite interesting how it was sited in a narrow valley seemingly well away from town but actually not that far away at all. There was some restoration work going on including a Polish group working on the pagoda …

The Van Loi is well located not much more than a five minute walk to the old town. We stayed here on an Intrepid food tour of Vietnam. Big rooms - our room had a queen bed and a single - with half facing out the back and the other facing the pool area. The staff a reception were all very friendly. A good breakfast was served up on the top floor of the hotel where there was a view across the surrounding area. We both had a massage at the 'spa' beside the pool and it was a pretty good massage, even if it was more expensive than those on offer at the many places along the street in to town. We have no problem recommending the Van Loi Hotel

We took the superior room and the room was great. A bit expensive compared to other Hotel in Hoi An. It takes 5 minutes by foot to reach the center of Hoi An and 15 minutes by bicycles to reach the beach. The staff is charming and helpful and the breakfast very yummy!
