Good location away from the throngs with a nice pool to boot

The Van Loi is well located not much more than a five minute walk to the old town. We stayed here on an Intrepid food tour of Vietnam. Big rooms - our room had a queen bed and a single - with half facing out the back and the other facing the pool area. The staff a reception were all very friendly. A good breakfast was served up on the top floor of the hotel where there was a view across the surrounding area. We both had a massage at the 'spa' beside the pool and it was a pretty good massage, even if it was more expensive than those on offer at the many places along the street in to town. We have no problem recommending the Van Loi Hotel

We took the superior room and the room was great. A bit expensive compared to other Hotel in Hoi An. It takes 5 minutes by foot to reach the center of Hoi An and 15 minutes by bicycles to reach the beach. The staff is charming and helpful and the breakfast very yummy!

    Well done My Son

A travel blog entry by matt-lewis on May 13, 2015

We formed a little moped gang consisting of two Englishmen, two South Africans, Portuguese, Icelandic and a Greek. The destination was My Son, ruins from the Cham era, set among running streams, with the backdrop of Cat's Tooth Mountain. The journey of 55km should have been fairly straightforward; just a couple of turns.

We arrived in Hoi An yesterday, after about a four hour bus journey. The scenery on the way was worth staying awake for, despite my fragile state. We're staying very close to the Old Town. This is a nice city. Touristy and many people trying to sell something, but I like it. I decided to go abseiling into a cave / temple this morning, with Steve, …

So 17 hours on a sleeper train was a very long time especially sharing space with people you don't know well. We shared our space with Helen from NZ and Samantha from Seattle in the U.S. They are new to our group and I have to say after 17 hours of complaining, Madi and I were so happy to be back in a hotel room again on our own. The train had 11 …

Today started with a bit of a sleep in opportunity but someone forgot to tell the feral kids staying in the hotel. Needless to say we had a great breakfast of omelette, toast and fruit. A short walk across a bridge to the main town area and food markets which was still being set up. It was a very peaceful walk resulting in a stop for coffee and a …

After they dry, they put them throuugh a machine that chops them into noodles. The method has been in their family for hundreds of years and they haven't changed how they make them at all.
