... to go wherever they need to (in the city especially). Horns beeping, drivers gesticulating, bikes everywhere. Narrow roads, high stone walls and hedges in the countryside. Cant say that I'm unhappy not have driven in this country.
    4. Expensive toll ways here. Some stretches of motorway are 2.50 euros, other parts are 22 or 25 euros. And as you would expect, there is no consistency with how you pay. Sometimes you drive through a toll gate and collect a ticket ...

At last we got the chance to spend more than a couple of days in Maastricht! My cousin Annelies and her husband Jules live there and it's a wonderful city full of history and culture. We went in a coach for 2 hours to Maastricht, one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, some opted for the Casemates tour, a network of underground tunnels, we just opted for the walking tour around the town. Before we got into the town, the coach made a detour so we could see Andre Rieu's home, even stopping so we could get out & take a photo. The weather was pretty mild about 14C, but ...

    ... around here.

We made our way around Brussels and on into Limburg, near the river Maas and the borders with Holland and Germany. We stopped at a nice ACSI site costing only 12e. We were both feeling under the weather and very tired - so a very early night for us!
